Look down the championship standings for both the MX1 and MX2 classes in MXGP and it will take you a while to find a rider with the Union Flag next to their name. While the likes of Germany’s Ken Roczen and Holland’s Jeffrey Herlings have exploded onto the world scene recently, the same can’t be said for young British riders. But Roczen and Herlings, while special, aren’t unique. We have youngsters in the UK who are equally as talented but the problem is that we simply don’t nurture them, nor do we provide the environment in which they can realise their true potential.

Friday April 1, 2011
A Message from the ACU Chairman You will have followed recent events in relation to the proposed sell-off of Forestry Commission land, followed by a U-turn which has led to the establishment of a DEFRA review into the future of the Forestry estate.
Although many of you may have welcomed the cancellation of Forestry sales (though we are aware that views are mixed), there is good cause to believe that we are not ‘out of the woods’ (no pun intended) yet. DEFRA have established a Forestry Review Panel which will report to the Secretary of State in the Autumn. Unfortunately, the terms of reference and membership of the Panel do not suggest that off road motorcycle sport will get a fair hearing unless we actively campaign for our interests to be properly represented on the panel. Please look at the link to find out more. http://ww2.defra.gov.uk/rural/forestry/panel/
