Report and Pictures by Colin Bullock The ACU Events sponsored British Trials Championship reached its conclusion last Sunday with the final round down in Kent organised by the Kent Youth and Wickham Clubs. The venue once again was Sandfields Farm near to Cowden on a course that can be likened to Hawkstone with its rocky outcrops linked by very loose sandy soil. The series which has attracted sponsorship from TRW and Michelin started six months ago at Scarborough and had seen seven wins out of se....

WHILST all riders in the recent Trial des Nations were disappointed to finish second to Spain in both men’s and ladies competitions there are still many British achievements to applaud. Following on from his maiden victory in the Scottish Six Days in May, Alexz Wigg capped a fine season by being crowned European Trials Champion. Alexz was, however, reminded that he can’t rest on his laurels as our younger talent continue to snap at his heals. Leading the charge is Halifax youngster J....

An addition to the published South Midland Centre Fixture List for this year is being arranged for Saturday, the 13th November. It is a combined event between the Berkhamsted, HUX and K&K clubs and it will be open to any affiliated ACU rider. It will be held, by kind permission of the Haslam family, at Round Rocket Plantation, West Hyde Lane, Chalfont St. Peter, SL9 0QP.
It is called the Tough Ten, and it will be just that, ten demanding sections set out to test the best riders in each of the classes, to be ridden four times. Section severity will be on a par with that found in areas such as Derbyshire and Yorkshire, with the aim of presenting, particularly to our youth riders, what is found when they enter National trials, whilst giving Experts, Inters and Novices a tough, demanding trial, so will not be suitable for beginners or less capable ‘social’ riders.........................

SEVEN FIM TRIAL DES NATIONS WINS IN A ROW FOR SPAIN
Very much as expected Toni Bou - Repsol Montesa led his Spanish counterparts, Adam Raga - Gas Gas, Jeroni Fajardo - Beta and Albert Cabestany - Sherco to a seventh straight win at the 2010 FIM Trial des Nations held in Myslenice, Poland. Spain's supremacy was never in doubt at any moment, and their winning margin of thirty-eight marks once again confirmed they remain in a league of their own. Whilst Great Britain could not challenge for the win, their runners up position was also equally safe from the outset in the wet and muddy conditions.
Captained by ex multi FIM Trial World Champion Dougie Lampkin - Beta, the British sqaud which included James Dabill - Gas Gas, Michael Brown - Sherco and Alex Wigg - Beta were the only team to even be on the same page as Spain, with them coming home very comfortably ahead of Italy. The Italian team of Matteo Grattarola - Sherco, Francesco Iolitta - Beta, Fabio Lenzi - Montesa and Danielle Maurino - Gas Gas fought off the French quartet to steal the final podium place in the World Championship Group. .......................

SANZ LEADS SPAIN TO WOMEN'S FIM TRIAL DES NATIONS WIN
The three rider Spanish team led by Laia Sanz - Repsol Montesa and also including Sandra Gomez - Gas Gas and Mireia Conde - Beta achieved a narrow win over Great Britain on the opening day of the 2010 FIM Trial des Nations held in Myslenice, Poland.
Having taken the title by just a single mark in Italy last September, the British team of Rebekah Cook - Sherco, Joanne Coles - Gas Gas and Emma Bristow - Gas Gas started this year's competition as slight favourites. Further heavy and extended rain overnight looked like the weather had played into the holders hands, with conditions out on the course being incredibly slippery and muddy, plus typically British. The rain had done damage, with the bankings being void of grip and the small river running through the wood having risen substantially during the hours of darkness................
