Germanys eight times World Longtrack Champion Gerd Riss, pictured above, will head up the overseas contingent for the International Lincolnshire Poacher Longtrack meeting on Bank Holiday Sunday 29 August, near Skegness.
The Poacher has a great reputation throughout Europe and I was pleased to accept the invitation from the club once we found that I could fit the date into my busy schedule said Riss.

Dirt trackers jump to it at Norfolk Arena!
One of the longest-running internationally, but most rarely seen in the UK, motorcycling disciplines makes its annual much-anticipated return to King’s Lynn’s Norfolk Arena this Sunday (22 August 2010).
Track and Trail not only uses that set of initials so famous in the motorcycling world, but actually this form of ‘TT’ racing has been a staple of the dirt track racing scene in the USA since the 1930s. Here it’s part of the hugely popular and fast-growing Short Track UK series – a series which has adopted the Saddlebow circuit as its spiritual home since the first meeting held there back in 2005.
The format sees the familiar Speedway circuit (home to the Premier League Stars side) converted so that after twice a lap, riders mounted on a variety of flattracking and adapted Super Moto machines, will turn onto the in-field area, traverse a jump and a right turn to re-enter the track. With 12 riders a race in races up to 12 laps in duration, the event is rightly known as dirt track motorcycling’s version of the steeplechase.............

THE FIM Sidecar Track Racing World Championship will take place at the Coventry Speedway Stadium on Saturday August 14th and newly crowned double UK Masters Champion Mark Cossar and his passenger Carl Blythe are the best hopes for British success.

AFTER winning the UK Masters Championship on August 1st, Andrew Appleton won the Grass Track European final on Saturday August 7th, making it a very successful week for the Hampshire based racer. Appleton, 28, from Ringwood, has achieved a childhood dream in the last week and is now targeting World Championship success to add to his titles. On Saturday 14th August the FIM World Championship Sidecar Speedway for 1,000cc machines will be held at the Coventry Bees home track at Rugby Road Brandon.
This annual event will feature sidecar teams from Australia, New Zealand, Europe and of course Great Britain.
The action start at 5.0pm but before that a National Grasstrack supporting event will be held running from 1.30pm organised by the Worcestershire Grass Track Club.

The ACU have received the following statement from Burton and Leicester Grass Track Association regarding the British Championships.
Masters Update
"The ACU would like to congratulate the ASTRA Club and its small band of helpers for putting on a superb event on Sunday, they made the British Masters a wonderful showcase for British Track Racing.
During the meeting a number of unfortunate racing incidents took place, and the latest position with the injured riders is as follows:-
Paul Cooper - Can now walk with crutches and is expected to be home within the next 24-48 hours.
Lewis Denham - released from hospital and recovering at home with a back brace.
Rob Mear - released from hosptial and recovering at home
Steve Smith - bruised and sore but ok
The Track Racing Committee and the ACU wish all injured riders a speedy recovery.
Following these incidents racing was suspended for 90 minutes to allow the medical team to provide the correct treatment to the injured riders, and as a consequence of this delay the meeting officials decided to cancel the fourth set of heats to ensure a timely completion of the event.
The ACU would like to thank all the spectators for their patience during this delay, and apologise for having to reduce the number of qualifying heats following the delay."
ANDREW APPLETON is the 2010 Speedway Star British Masters 500cc Grasstrack Champion after a day of hot racing action at Rhodes Minis in Kent at the weekend. Appleton fended off the attentions of Jamie Rodgers, Tim Nobes and experienced campaigner Paul Hurry in the 500cc final to take the top honours in the UK. Missing from the final were Paul Cooper and previous Masters Champion Lewis Denham who came together in a serious accident early on the day. Both racers will be out of action for some time....
