FIM World Superbikes at Silverstone

Silverstone will welcome Britain's round of the FIM Superbike World Championship after a two year absence. With more than £5 million of investment in a new, super fast bike circuit, expectation will be high as fans enjoy one of the best race experiences available in the UK. Max Biaggi leads the series followed by Haslam and Rea.

The 2010 World Superbike Championship is Packed with British talent, a total of eight British riders will be competing on full factory or factory-supported bikes this season. The British line-up includes James Toseland (Sterilgarda Yamaha), who returns to World Superbikes for the first time since winning the title in 2007, , Leon Haslam (Alstare Suzuki) currently 2nd in the standings ,Jonathan Rea (Ten Kate Honda) currently 3rd Shane Byrne (Althea Ducati), Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Superbike), Cal Crutchlow (Sterilgarda Yamaha) and Leon Camier (Aprilia Racing).

The North Yorkshire Road Racing Supporters Club are delighted to have father and son duo Ron and Leon Haslam on the 3rd of August, the Tuesday after the British round of the World Superbikes at Silverstone.

The event will raise money to further the careers of racers from the local area.

Barry Sheene Memorial Dinner - Saturday 7th August - BSB Weekend at Brands

The Barry Sheene Memorial Night will be held at the Thistle Hotel, Brands Hatch during the same weekend as BSB - 7th August 2010.

Guests will include Steve Parrish who will give an insight in to what it was like being Barry's team mate and best friend. Margaret Smart and Paul Smart, Barry's Sister and Brother in Law along with their son and current racer, Scott will be along also. It is also hoped that James Whitham will be along to interview some of the BSB riders.

IF you are a young road racer who has talent and dream of being a future World Champion then the ACU is urging you to enrol for one of five fully funded places in the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) for a career boost.

The course has been established by the ACU and MSA jointly with Loughborough College and is designed for 16-18 year-olds (some exceptions apply up to 24-years of age). It is designed to give elite road racers with potential grounding in skills needed to help them succeed on and off the track including vehicle dynamics, sports science, human performance, engineering and management

Scarborough Bike Week 2010

A week long festval of bike sport take place at Scarborough this week starting with the Barry Sheene Race Festival for classic and modern machines. The Auto 66 annual festival at the very traditional Olivers Mount circuit.  

On Tuesday 6th July the Olivers Mount Speed Hill Climb.

On Wednesday 7th July the Olivers Mount Sprint and Stunt Show 

On Thursday 8th the Dalby Forest Speed Hill Climb

And the grand finale on Saturday 10th Sunday 11th July at Olivers Mount - The Cock O the North Roadraces.

Pinhard Trophy

The Pinhard Trophy is awarded annually to the young motorcyclist - under 21 years of age - from an ACU affiliated club, who is adjudged to have made the most meritorious achievement in motorcycle sport in the preceding year. The winner is selected following consideration of applications by five independent judges. There were ten nominations this year, and the standard of nominees was exceptionally high.

For 2009, the Pinhard Trophy for Best British Rider awarded to Bradley Smith.

The award was made at the British MotoGP on Friday, 18th June. Bradley went on to finish third in the race on Sunday at Silverstone.
